Meeting Start time: 7:30 PM

1.)                117 Billings Street

·        Discussion regarding the request of the property owner to demolish a structure on their property.

·        Commission members viewed the site prior to this meeting to determine the merit in this request.

·        The general feelings were as follows; B. Rosenbaum does not feel that this building is of a significant nature with the exception of the stone work. He would request that it be saved in some manner. S. Schofield stated that due to the extensive amount of work needed it would not be feasible to save this structure. G. Hughes agreed that the existing conditions do not warrant repairs and the building should come down.

·        B. Rosenbaum made a motion to allow the present owner to proceed with the demolition.

·        S. Schofield seconded the motion, All in Favor

2.)                228 East Street

·        A request has been made by the present owner, Ed Ruvich to obtain a new property sign for his home. He requested that the name William R. Mann on the sign.

·        D. Martin will be in touch with Mr. Ruvich to confirm the name and date.

·        SHC/SDC will provide the sign

3.)                118 Ames Street/182 East Street

·        S. Schofield reported that she attended the recent Planning Board meeting in which this property was being discussed.

·        P. O’Cane of the Engineering Department was present to provide info on the property.

·        There are currently four (4) buildable lots on the Ames Street property and one (1) “L” Shaped lot behind 188 East Street.

·        The concern is sub dividing of the property and distracting from Stone Holm.

·        P. O’Cane suggested that the owner build on the “L” shaped lot. This would mean making some allowances on the right away to this lot from East Street.

·        S. Dunn apparently has purchased the 182 East Street property and has agreed to work with the town on the right of way

·        More to follow

4.)                Preservation Award 2010

·        After reviewing a number of potential properties to receive this year’s award it was decided that the Wilber School Project was the most worthy.

·        This would be a dual award, to both Beacon and Frontier

·        D. Martin to touch base with Josh Cohen from Beacon

·        B. Rosenbaum motioned to present the award to both parties; S. Schofield seconded the motion, All in Favor.

·        D. Martin to contact the Selectmen’s office

5.)                Old Business

·        S. Rich inquired about sending out the 1st Inventory list to the property owners. G. Hughes to work on completing the mailer

6.)                New Business

·        S. Schofield voiced concern about 12 Huntington Ave. There is a new home being built on the site. The original home still remains, the lot was sub divided.
